Middle School Art: Wire Drawings

Students studied the life and work of American sculptor, Alexander Calder. They looked specifically at his "stabile" and wire sculptures.  Students used photographs as references for creating their own 3-D "drawings" made of wire.  Wire manipulation and connection techniques were taught and practiced.

Middle School Art: Mixed Media Cityscapes

Students looked at various examples of cityscapes, specifically the collage work of Romare Bearden.  Students created their own mixed media cityscapes by layering various types of cardboard, cork board and wood pieces, painting it black and adding oil pastel for color and texture.
